When I (unexpectedly) left my 6-figure CEO job at a company I’d co-founded, I threw myself into the job that thirteen-year-old Emylee would’ve always wanted. Well, to be honest, thirteen-year-old me hadn’t a clue what romance novels were. The most uncomfy book I’d read then was Flowers in the Attic by V.C. Andrews. *shiver*

What ended up becoming clear was that I didn’t want to hide behind my pen name (it’s Gabi Salas, there it’s out there; you can find the other me.) I wasn’t just falling in love with writing super slutty scenes (look away, Dad); I was begging my friends and strangers on the internet to read them, not just for my measly royalty check but because I knew their sex life would thank them (me) later.

As would their confidence in themselves. Their love of their bodies. Their ability to speak up for what they wanted when it came to pleasure. And, yes, demanding more monster smut counts.

So, now I’m just a girl, standing in front of thousands of other girls begging them to give slutty books a try.
